We are a downland farm on the rolling hills above Beaminster. The term Downs is derived from the Celtic word for hills. The animals on the farm are –
We have a mix of native mountain and down sheep. Our sheep are a cross between the local rare breed Dorset Down sheep and the Black Welsh Mountain sheep. They are bucket trained and so are always interested when people visit.
Our ducks are mix of breeds with our white Aylesbury (Jeremy) in charge. They are very friendly and interested in people. They have a way of making a pond look tempting on the coldest of days!
These are home bred and moved around the farm grazing over their favourite perennials weeds.
